About this property

Welcome to OUTRIGGER Kauai Beach Resort & Spa

OUTRIGGER Kauai Beach Resort & Spa is a polished beachfront resort located on Kauai’s east shore in Lihue, offering guests expansive ocean views and direct beach access. The property features four outdoor pools, a spa, a fitness center, and a hot tub, complemented by an upscale pan-Pacific restaurant, Naupaka Terrace. Although the resort does not offer airport shuttle service and is not pet-friendly, it provides essential amenities such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and accessible facilities.

The resort’s setting is convenient, situated approximately a 10-minute drive from Lihue Airport and within easy reach of notable attractions like Fern Grotto and Wailua Falls. Nearby beaches, including Kalapaki Beach, provide opportunities for swimming and scenic walks, although some guests note rough ocean conditions for swimming directly at the resort’s shoreline. The surrounding area features additional accommodation options and dining venues, supporting a variety of visitor preferences.

Guest feedback highlights the resort’s comfortable and well-maintained pools, scenic sunrises, and attentive staff, though some mention ongoing renovations affecting common areas during their stay. Comments also point to an added resort fee and paid parking, which visitors should consider when planning their visit. The on-site dining receives positive remarks for quality, although poolside bars have limited hours.

Overall, this resort suits travelers seeking a quiet, beach-adjacent retreat with casual amenities and a taste of local Hawaiian cuisine. It is well-suited for families and visitors who appreciate a calmer atmosphere without extensive nightlife or live entertainment, as the property maintains a more relaxed and understated ambiance.

Very nice hotel near airport on East shore\side of island. Fortunate to have ocean view. Provided extra pillows from room service. Did not take advantage of resort amenities or very nice pool. Did not see anyone swimming at resort due to strong waves - have to go to other beaches Popui, etc. to snorkel\swim. A bit disappointed that the lobby and some common areas were all being renovated and closed-off.

Although in the midst of renovation, our room was beautiful with an incredible view of the beach at sunrise! The four pools are nice and well-maintained. One of the hot tubs was out of order, so it caused the one that was working to be over-crowded. The restaurant has great food. And, above all, the staff are amazing! So sweet, kind, and helpful! A truly wonderful stay!!

Renovated rooms were beautiful, they did a great job. We stayed in a king room with a balcony. Next time I would splurge on the pool or ocean view. Customer service was great, the front desk was a bit short with us, but the rest of the staff was 10/10. Also you can sit at the beach but waters were pretty rough if you want to swim. If you’re looking for a hotel that is pretty much dead quiet, with a good pool and casual drinks, in bed by 9, this is your spot. Did not see any live music and pool bar closes at 6

When we first arrived I got this oh no resort feeling. BUT, we were greeted by amazing happy pleasant people. We got to our room and wow it was very nice. We did have a problem with the TV so I called the front desk and spoke with a very nice person, Megan I believe and the next morning we were in an upgraded room that was nicer yet. It didn't stop there they compted our dinner the next night. The dinner was great Lexi our server was fun and there at the just right moment. Good bourbon selection. We are so pleased with Outrigger, they will bend over backwards to make your stay fantastic! Did I mention it is beautiful here.

Good hotel in a nice location with very good value for money. One of the biggest advantages is the food — the kitchen is excellent, which is quite rare for hotels. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. Towels were clean, and the sun loungers by the pool were comfortable. The beach itself is very beautiful, but there are some issues. There is ongoing construction on the property, and in some areas sandbags or construction materials can be visible. Also, there is quite a lot of plastic and trash on the beach, which should be cleaned more regularly. Overall, the hotel management is doing a good job, but it feels like a few points are missing from the checklist. Improving beach cleanliness and adding a bit more cultural or entertainment activities could make the stay even better and attract more guests. Despite these nuances, the hotel offers a very good balance between price and quality.

We had an interesting experience here. We booked it last minute because our Airbnb didn't work out, and the reception lady wasn't very kind or empathetic when the resort fees came out to be wayyy more than we expected. Like $200 more. MAKE SURE TO READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR RESORT FEES. I'm not sure what these fees even cover. Parking is also $30 per day, which is ridiculous. For the good parts - the room was cozy and the bed was nice. It was clean and had air conditioning. The access to the beach is very nice, and feels private. If you're willing to spend a lot of money on a resort, this one is nice.

The hotel surroundings are absolutely beautiful. The drive-in road to the property is very pleasant, the swimming pool is nicely designed, and the sea views are lovely. The hotel also has a large green area that is very well maintained — the landscaping is done beautifully and clearly cared for. The dining room design is attractive, and the live music was a great addition. Considering that many hotels don’t offer on-site dining at all, this was very convenient and enjoyable. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were cleaned well. Areas for improvement: The hotel, overall, feels quite dated. There are many small details in the rooms that could be easily fixed but are overlooked, such as small black holes and spots on the ceiling and stains on the floors that could be removed. The guest entrance is especially disappointing. It practically doesn’t exist and looks like a staff-only door. We have never seen such an entrance at a hotel, which was quite surprising. The exterior building color is also not a good choice. The dark green paint makes the building look rather depressing instead of uplifting and does not feel well integrated into the surrounding nature (if that was the designer’s intention). Overall, it looks quite unpleasant. Self-parking was convenient and had plenty of spaces. Valet parking was also available at a higher price. For visitors from Europe or the Middle East, the room quality would likely feel closer to a 2–3 star hotel.

so while there are currently renovations going on this is a plus as its getting a much needed refresh. great central location 30 mins from poipu, 1 hr from hanalei. while no swimming (but pool area is great) beaches are empty and amazing long, long walks on sandy beach, find shells, walk along side the golf course, great surf SPECTACULAR sunrises everyday this resort gets overlooked but should definitely be considered for a kauai stay. one gripe is staff training, most are incredibly pleasant and helpful some come across as rude and wont explain process and policies well. and possibly because of reno's may be understaffed so service can be slow
